Seattle Family Photography | My Hero
Let's talk about things that inspire us today...
I've always, always been a fan of Make a Wish and the services they provide. I think as with everything, there are certain Make a Wish stories that hit you harder than others. Awhile back, there was a story about a little boy named Erik Martin. I remember seeing the story at a Sounders game (part of his wish had to do with them), and going home that day to find out more. After reading through his wish and what he wanted to do, I fell in love with this little boy and his story. Erik wanted to be a superhero for a day... He wanted to spend his day helping other people.
Erik started out his day as Electron Boy by saving the Sounders, then went on to save a PSE employee, and then a group of people on the observation deck of the Space Needle from the maniacal plans of Dr. Dark and Blackout Boy... All while cruising the city in a DeLorean. This was Eric's best day ever... Getting to save the world from someone who would do it harm. Eric would only be with us for another year, but his story has stayed with me ever since. The story bubbled up in my memory earlier this year (as it does regularly), and this time I had an idea... You could say I was inspired :) I wanted to give more kids the chance to be commemorated as a superhero, all while contributing to the organization that helped Erik live out his dream of being Electron Boy.
On July 30th, I will be holding Superhero Mini Sessions with 100% of the profits going to Make A Wish in Erik's honor. The sessions will be 20 minutes long and I will have some Superhero props and costume pieces (but if your child has their own favorite costume, don't hesitate to let them wear it!). And hey, if you want to get in the photos too (superhero family photos, anyone?), let's do it! Sessions will be $150 and you will receive 10 high resolution photos, and the feeling that you will have helped little kids like Erik live out their biggest wishes. Details are located here: http://www.rachelcathleenphotography.com/mini-session-booking
