Tacoma Family Photography | Mother's Day is Coming!

Have you started thinking about Mother's Day? No? It's closer than you think folks. Treat that mom (or mother figure or really cool aunt that was like a mom) to something super awesome this year!

Being a mom, I thought I could help a bit... Nudge you in the right direction. As much as us moms love macaroni necklaces and breakfast in bed (yes, you should DEFINITELY do that, and the subsequent dishes), something that will remind us of the people who love us whenever we look at it is lovely too! I've compiled a few awesome things that I know I'd love to get... And extra bonus, some of them are mom owned businesses, so you're not only giving an amazing mother's day present, you're supporting a mom too!

1.) Anything from Joyful Lettershop. I LOVE her hand lettering. Everything is hand done, and gorgeous! You can find her items at a few different shops (Blooming Kids, Paper Luxe), but if the mom in your life has a favorite quote/saying, she does amazing custom work too! I had her do some notebooks for me and was SO impressed. Contact her on Instagram or on Etsy!

2.) A gift certificate to Virde Salon. Amy and her team of stylists are INCREDIBLE. So laid back and welcoming, I've never felt so comfortable during my salon experience!

3.) Anything from Artifact Uprising or Social Print Studio. These two are my favorite consumer labs to print at. Why? They have some really neat gift items. I have AU's prints and wood block, and it is the PERFECT desk size!

4.) A gift card to Blooming Kids in Tacoma. I know, I know, sounds like it's not for mom! It is. Trust me. Every time I go in there, I end up buying more stuff for me than Declan! They carry a ton of local maker's items, including signs, jewelry, planners... Anything you could think of!

5.) Has the mom in your life been talking about trying a new hobby? Photography? Hand lettering? Knitting? Rock climbing? Mountain biking? Get her classes! You can find a ton of craft based classes on Creative Live or Udemy! Or look at your local parks and rec for other classes.

6.) A photo session. I had to throw it in there. Mom's are usually the ones behind the camera (*raises hand*), and rarely have pictures of themselves with their kids, other than the occasional selfie. Get her a family photo session, and then print some pictures and hang them up. Make them visible on a daily basis. The best part? This is a gift that lasts a lifetime, and beyond in some cases. And what do you know? I can help you with that. Even if my style isn't yours (unposed and laid back), I have a great network of other photographers I can refer you to! I have gift certificates available, just contact me here.

I hope these ideas inspire you to really take care of mom this Mother's Day... I know I'm eternally grateful for everything my mom has done for me. Which also means I should probably start planning what I'm going to do for mine... Wait, oops. Mom, if you're reading this, I have an amazing thing planned. Promise! ;)
